Famous Female Gamblers

Many people believe that gambling is a male-dominated industry, but this is not the case. Women have been betting and winning alongside males for nearly as long as people have enjoyed games of chance. While they may not receive as much media attention as males, there are a number of exceptional female players who can hold their own at the tables.

Anette Obrestad Oberstadt is extremely active online and even maintains a YouTube channel, albeit for cosmetics and not her enormously successful Poker career. She won over $1 million in 2005 and 2006 and celebrated her 19th birthday by winning another $1 million at the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe.

Catharine J. Thompkins

Carlotta Thompkins, who was born in Kentucky in 1844, chose to be known as Lottie Deno at the poker table. This was done to conceal the fact that she supported herself by playing cards from her family. Deno wore the latest fashions and forbade participants from cursing, drinking, or even smoking at her table. She died in 1934 and has entered the annals of history due to the fact that she defeated the legendary Doc Holliday by $3000 during her career.

Kirsten Bicknell

In 2017, Kirsten Biknell, a Canadian professional poker player, had the highest ranking for a live tournament. In addition to her two World Series of Poker bracelets, she has collected more than $5 million in cash prizes. Alex Foxen, Bicknell’s fiancĂ©, is also a Poker player. In 2018 and 2019, the couple topped the Player of the Year rankings.

Vanessa Selbst

Even though Vanessa Selbst retired in 2018, no list of female gamblers is complete without her. In addition to her three WSOP bracelets, she won over $15 million over the duration of her career. She is the only woman to have ever topped the Global Poker Index, and she is the only player to have won the North American Poker Tour’s Main Event for two consecutive years.

When we think of casino games, we often imagine elegant gentlemen in tuxedos smoking cigars and playing cards. However, women are now actively participating in casino games. There is no reason not to consider these players as seriously as we do men, given that they possess extraordinary skills.
